  1. L.I.F.E. (Learn It From Each Other)

    February 9 - April 26 @ Myrick Park Center

    Join us for L.I.F.E., a new inclusive peer mentoring program for ALL abilities. We pair individuals both with and without special needs and work to create impactful relationships. Have fun with engaging activities while building friendships based on respect and understanding. A healthy snack and T-shirt will be provided.

    Join Jim Buchholz, a local musician in a swing band, who will present the history of swing music from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Music and videos from this era will also be played.

  3. Meet Your Feathered Neighbors

    February 11, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    Join Nature Connections! Participants in this program will learn how to identify birds commonly found in their neighborhoods and learn what you can do to attract even more beneficial birds to your yard. Information on how to participate in the upcoming Great Backyard Bird Count will also be presented.

    Ready for some fun? Join us for Kid’s Club! We will have a blast playing games, making crafts, and conducting experiments. This brand new program gives kids a chance to make new friends while participating in engaging activities. It is a great way to decrease screen time and get involved. Come learn and play with us! Registration is available for each session. We will also have a healthy snack each session. For ages 5-11.

  8. Food for Thought - Hot Topics in Nutrition

    February 15, 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    Curious about nutrition and wellness? Food for Thought will cover various nutrition topics, from nutrient basics, making lifestyle changes, strategies for dealing with picky eaters, and everything in between. Be empowered with the knowledge and know-how to take charge of your health and eating habits. Join Erin, a recent UWL graduate with a background in nutrition and wellness, for these informal and informative talks. Please register at least three days prior to the session. This program is for ages 18+.

  9. Drawing II Starts

    February 15, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ South Side Neighborhood Center

    Join instructor William Eddy in a discussion and exercise of the elements of drawing, such as line, shape, space color and texture. The principles of art will also be discussed, including balance, rhythm and harmony. You will experience several exercises that will prove helpful in developing an intuitive sense of organization. Drawing formats simple and complex still life, positive and negative spaces and adding lights and darks will be covered. Materials needed: large Newsprint pad, large drawing pad and all your drawing tools. Further materials will be discussed at the first meeting.

  10. Dressing Body Challenges

    Let’s take the style you like and together, make it the style you love! Lynn Berra, owner of Simple Changes and Style thru Nature, will help you look your best. Lynn has a studio in La Crosse and is certified in color and line. These fun and interactive programs will get you ready to rock that closet while saving time and money! Tired of trying to muck your way through all the styles? Find out what works to show off your best assets and minimize the rest.

  11. Historic Sites of La Crosse County

    February 16, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    Barbara Kooiman will be speaking about the historic sites which are located in the cities, villages and rural regions of La Crosse County. Barbara is a local architectural historian who has been doing historical research in the Coulee Region for the past 24 years. She is also the current president of Preservation Alliance of La Crosse and currently sits on the La Crosse County Historic Sites Preservation Commission.

    Stamp the day away with Judy, Lisa and Connie. At this Creative Card Camp, you will stamp and create 24 All Occasion Note Cards. No experience is necessary! Please bring a scissors, adhesive/double sided tape and a black ink pad. Free door prizes and snacks will be provided! Call 608.789.8640 to register. It can be complicated, but you are in great hands with Theresa Lewis who has been a sign language instructor for 17 years! Develop a high level of ability and confidence when manually communicating with individuals who are deaf in occupational as well as social situations.

  19. Wisconsin Troops in the Civil War

    February 23, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ South Side Neighborhood Center

    Frederick Beseler will present on “Wisconsin Troops in the Civil War.” Frederick will talk about the soldiers of the La Crosse Light Guard, which became Company B of the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment of the famous Iron Brigade.

  20. Using the Internet for Family History Research

    February 24, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Myrick Park Center

    Terry Micks, President of the La Crosse Area Genealogical Society, will speak on the topic of using the internet for family history research. Learn more about using sites like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org to help you find your roots.

  21. Castlerock Arms and Armor Museum and Minnesota Marine Art Museum

    February 25, 8:30 AM @ Alma, Wisconsin

    We will be traveling to Alma, Wisconsin to visit the Castlerock Arms and Armor Museum. This is the Midwest’s most complete collections of arms and armor and it is displayed in a specially-designed castle-like building with crenellated walls. Hundreds of authentic pieces are displayed among art reproductions that show their use in battle. We will then travel to Winona, where lunch is on your own. Following lunch, we will visit the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, on the banks of the Mississippi River. Admission to both museums are included in the price.

  22. Creating Urban Wildscapes

    February 25, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    Participants will learn how to provide cover for wildlife, nesting sites for birds, and food sources for birds & caterpillars by mimicking natural ecosystems, creating plant communities, and utilizing natural plant layers. The class will also provide suggestions on wildscaping design and maintenance practices.
