    Based off the hit TV show, come show off your skills at these quirky minute games and see if you can beat your friends. There will never be a dull minute with this two hour program.

  2. Expressive Arts Workshop - Children's Art

    August 4, 9:00 AM - August 5, 12:00 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    For boys & girls in grades 3-5. Interested in creating some unique pictures? Using mixed art materials, William Eddy will help you express yourself! There will be two sessions to experiment and have fun while doing it. All materials and a snack will be provided.

  3. Wally Tranberg and Friends - Harmony in the Neighborhood

    August 6, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ South Side Neighborhood Center

    Come listen to Wally Tranberg and Friends perform country songs from classics such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Hank Thompson and Hank Williams. These tunes include polkas, waltzes, honkey tonk, two steps and country. Verle Austad-fiddle; Judy Bleken-keyboard; Jerry Thompson-vocals and guitar; and Wally Tranberg-vocals and guitar.

  4. Grand Picnic - Harmony on the River

    August 7, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    Grand Picnic is a string band specializing in traditional American music, mostly coming from the period of the Civil War to the 1920’s. The music includes Irish, English, Scandinavian, as well as American roots. The music can be described as dance music—reels, jigs, and such for square dances—but the band also reaches into the vocal traditions of Stephen Foster and others. Dan Brodrick- fiddle; Barb Dalton-fiddle; Larry Dalton-bass; Chuck Lee-mandolin; Dave Skoloda-guitar; and Judd Steinback-mountain dulcimer. A meal of hot turkey sandwich, potato wedges, coleslaw, dessert and lemonade will be served.

  5. The Lego Movie - Flick 'n' Float Night

    August 7, 9:00 PM - 11:30 PM @ Erickson Pool

    There will be a toy drive starting Sunday, August 2nd and goes until The Lego Movie starts! FREE admission for a donated toy. Benefits Toys for Tots La Crosse.

  6. Minecraft Offline - Children's Camp

    Do you like playing Minecraft or being creative? This program is for you! Work together on a team and on your own to create your world and compete in challenges against other teams in real life! Engage in hands on experiments and creations. Have fun experiencing Minecraft offline.

  7. Freezer Cranberry Pineapple Jam

    Find an easy way to make freezer cranberry pineapple jam with no canning. Simply refrigerate and enjoy! Instructor is Deb Hendrickson, former chef at Cuddy’s Center at the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

    Join Eric Karbula, horticulturalist at Bauers, for tips on fall pruning, perennial care and how to clean your yard and garden properly before winter. He will cover mulching, watering and composting. Discover how to keep your garden healthy throughout the winter!

  9. River Winds Quintet - Harmony in the Neighborhood

    August 13, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ South Side Neighborhood Center

    This quintet has a large repertoire which includes show tunes, ragtime, classical and patriotic music. The quintet features Stephanie Brookman-flute; Catherine McNamara-oboe; Justin Asher-clarinet; Bonny Fish-French horn and Gene Gassere-bassoon.

  10. Seven Rivers Jazz Band - Harmony on the River

    August 14, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    Listen to some swinging Dixieland jazz. The current band has played together for a year and consists of seasoned musicians. Their repertoire is mainly New Orleans style Dixieland jazz. The members are Gary Urness- keyboard and trumpet; Mark Glasel- trombone; Dave Osley- drums; Neil Duresky- bass; Paul Erickson- banjo/guitar; and Judy K- vocals. A meal of brats with all the fixings, potato salad, marinated vegetables, watermelon and lemonade will be served.

    Our trip to Green Bay will include a prestigious Champions Tour of Lambeau Field, which includes views of the atrium, suites, and a walk through the players’ tunnel. An all you can eat meatloaf buffet meal inside of Lambeau is included in the price. We will also be taking a tour of the Hall of Fame if it is open in time, and we will watch the players compete for a roster spot in training camp outside the Don Hutson Center. We will be departing for La Crosse at 4:00pm.

  13. Ways to Preserve Your Herbal Harvest

    August 19, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    I grew it, now what do I do with it? There’s a smorgasbord of things you can do, from drying and freezing to jams and pickles and more! Your pantry will be stocked with herbal goodies to last all winter. We will also talk about some basic kitchen medicine cabinet recipes such as hand cleanser and cough syrup. There will be samples to taste and recipes to take home. Instructor is Laurie Stiers-Foltz, MSN, RN, FNP, BS Holistic Nutrition, Certified Clinical Herbalist.

  14. Mexican Salsa

    August 19, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM @ South Side Neighborhood Center

    Utilizing the seasonal produce in Wisconsin during the peak times of harvest is one of the many gifts that the driftless region provides to our area. In this class, you will learn how to take our local ingredients and turn them into authentic Mexican fare that bursts with fresh flavors. Chef Shawn McManus from Savory Creations will be creating a charred salsa verde, a smoked salsa roja and a caramelized pineapple pico de gallo. ¡Ay chiwowa!

  15. Prairie Smoke - Harmony in the Neighborhood

    August 20, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ South Side Neighborhood Center

    The music of Prairie Smoke combines the influences of American folk and the Celtic traditions of Scottish and Irish Aires, jigs and reels. Erin Hussey, Betsy Knowles, Rita Koch-Thometz, Jon Stuttgen and Tom Walter perform on hammered and mountain dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, flute, guitar and mandolin.

  16. Carnival Celebration

    August 21, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ North Side Community Pool

    Swimmers, Divers, Splashers, Oh My!! Come on out for some Big Top Fun! There will be carnival games and free carnival snacks.

  17. Grumpy Old Men - Harmony on the River

    August 21, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Black River Beach Neighborhood Center

    The Grumpy Old Men “Swing Band” is a 14 piece big band. It consists mostly of retired musicians who still love to play their instruments and music from the swing era. The band’s repertoire includes the music of Glenn Miller, Les Brown and many others. Bring your dancing shoes! A Chicken Que meal from Premier Catering will be served.

  18. Celebrate Summer Family Fun Fair

    August 23, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Chad Erickson Memorial Park

    Enjoy some free end of summer family fun! Activities include a scavenger hunt, sailboat making, carnival games, ring around the ducky, and more!
