Isle La Plume Brush & Yard Waste Site

Curbside Or Alley Collection Of Yard Waste As A ‘Subscription Service’ Through Harter's Quick Clean-Up
Residents who want their yard waste (primarily grass clippings) picked up at the curb or alley should contact the Harter’s Quick Clean-Up, 608-782-2082, to set up Subscription Service. Collection is in a cart designated for yard waste only and the fees are direct billed by the Harter’s to the property owner. The 95-gallon cart will be delivered for a flat fee of $20. There is a monthly dumping fee. Weekly collection is $20.75/month; bi-weekly collection is $12.75/month; monthly collection is $12.25/month. Yard waste subscription service is available seasonally March through November.

In 2017 the site will open on March 20th and will close for the season on November 22nd. Site will be closed on these Holidays: Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Once site closes for the season yard waste and brush can only be dropped off at the County Landfill.

Saturday & Sunday 11:00AM–4:00PM
When Daylight Saving Time ends, the drop-off site will close weekdays at 6:00PM.

You must be a City of La Crosse Resident to use the site. For residents bringing in materials, there is currently no fee to use the drop-off site.

Also available: Compost is free for residents. Shovel your own.

Information for Contractors
The Isle La Plume drop-off site is for residents only! Contractors must show proof of where their material comes from and are allowed to use the site only between 4:00PM and 7:00PM weekdays.

Yard Waste

Yard waste is defined as grass clippings, leaves, garden plants and weeds.


PAPER COMPOSTABLE BAGS CANNOT BE PUT IN THE COMPACTORS- Just like garbage cans and plastic bags, paper compostable bags must now be emptied into compactor and disposed of separately.

COOKING OIL DROP OFF-There are drums near the yard waste shed for residents to drop cooled cooking oil off at. Please speak to the attendant.


Brush is defined as branches and tree limbs from 1/4-inch to 8-inches in diameter and less than 8-feet in length. All loads of brush coming into the site will be inspected.

What is not acceptable at the brush site?
Stumps, trunks, root balls, and branches & limbs over 8-inches in diameter and over 8-feet in length. No railroad ties or lumber.

What about larger items or disposal during the winter months?
When branches and tree limbs are larger than described or when Isle La Plume is closed you can take them to the La Crosse County Landfill. The landfill is open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM weekdays.

Brush Week (May 1-5, 2017)  ***Please place brush out by May 1st.

Brush tied in bundles with cotton string less than 4-feet long and weighing less than 50-pounds will be picked up on the boulevard, ONLY during this week. Brush must be placed near the curb by 7:00 AM to ensure pick up. Brush collection does not include entire trees (trunks, stumps, roots) or entire shrubs/bushes that have been removed. The rest of the season, brush must be taken to the drop-off site, or to the County Landfill for a fee.
