Temporary lane reductions on South Avenue, between 16th Street and 17th Street
Beginning the morning of Wednesday, October 12, 2016, South Avenue, between 16th Street and 17th Street, will be temporarily reduced to one lane of vehicular traffic in each direction. The closures are necessary for utility work on Xcel Energy gas main pipes and City of La Crosse sanitary sewer.
I would urge motorists to be aware of changing traffic patterns and to expect delays and backups, especially in the morning and evening peak hours. It is anticipated that all lanes of Losey Boulevard will be re-opened fully by Monday, October 17, 2016, depending upon weather.
Temporary roadway night closure, 4th Steet North (Highway 53)
Beginning the night of Wednesday, October 12, 2016, 4th Street North (USH 53), between State Street and Vine Street, will be temporarily closed to through traffic nightly, from 7:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M., from Cass Street to La Cross Street.
4th Street, between State and Vine Streets, and State Street, between 3rd and 4th Streets, will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic during the nightly closures. The temporary closures are necessary for Xcel Energy gas main and service work.
A detour will be posted, using Cass Street (Highway 16) and 7th Street (Highway 16). All side streets within the closure area will only remain open for east-west traffic across 4th Street Avenue. All businesses will remain open during usual business hours throughout construction.
I would urge motorists to be aware of changing traffic patterns. 4th Street North and State Street will be re-opened to all traffic daily. Depending upon weather, it is anticipated that nightly temporary closures will end the morning of Friday, October 14, 2016 at 7:00 A.M.
Temporary roadway closure, Cass Street, at 8th Street
On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, a segment of Cass Street, from 7th Street to West Avenue will be temporarily closed to through vehicular traffic. Cass Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic at 8th Street. The closure is necessary for private sanitary and storm sewer work.
No formal detour will be posted. However, local access will be maintained via side streets, which will remain open to local traffic. The suggested alternate route is Main Street, between 7th Street and West Avenue.
I would urge motorists to be aware of the posted detour and changing traffic patterns. It is anticipated that Cass Street will be re-opened fully on Thursday, October 13, 2016, depending upon weather.
