Vesterheim is the national Norwegian-American museum and heritage center, with over 33,000 artifacts, 12 historic buildings, a Folk Art School, and a library and archives.  This treasure showcases the most extensive collection of Norwegian-American artifacts in the world.  The tour will begin in the museum's permanent exhibits with a guide.  In addition to a guided tour of the museum, attend a special presentation on “The Extraordinary Aprons of Evelina Grimes”.
Evelina Oppegard Grimes was well known to Minnesota community groups in the 1960s and 1970s as the creator of “apron art.”
Lunch is on your own at the T-Box Bar & Grill.
After lunch take a tour of the Seed Savers Exchange.  Since 1975, Seed Savers Exchange has grown, saved, and shared heirloom seeds.  They led a movement to protect biodiversity and preserve heirloom varieties.  At the heart of their organization is a seed bank that houses a collection of 20,000+ rare, open-pollinated varieties.
Return to La Crosse at approximately 5:00pm.
