Community Development and Housing

Improving the quality of life for residents through initiatives like affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and community development projects. Services include managing federal grants, such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and offering programs that support low-to-moderate income families, such as home improvement loans, first-time homebuyer assistance, and housing rehabilitation efforts.

Economic Development

Dedicated to fostering economic growth and creating a vibrant local economy--attracting new businesses, supporting the expansion of existing ones, and creating job opportunities within the community. Services include providing financial incentives, offering site selection assistance, facilitating business development resources, and promoting a business-friendly environment to encourage investment in the city. 

Heritage Preservation

Focused on preserving the historical and cultural assets of the community. Services include identifying and protecting historic sites, buildings, and districts, as well as providing guidance on the preservation and rehabilitation of these assets. Services can also include the management of local historic preservation ordinances, offering educational programs, and promoting awareness of the city's cultural heritage.

Planning

Oversees the city's land use, zoning, and long-term development strategies. Services include developing and implementing comprehensive plans, reviewing development proposals, managing zoning regulations, and coordinating with other departments on infrastructure and public services planning. The goal is to ensure sustainable growth, balance community needs, and maintain the city's character.

Assessment

Responsible for determining the value of all real and personal property within the city for taxation purposes. Services provided by this department typically include property assessments, maintaining property records, handling property tax appeals, and ensuring that property values are fair and equitable. This office plays a crucial role in the City's revenue system by assessing the tax base.

Homeless Services

Focused on addressing homelessness within the community by coordinating support, resources, and assistance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Services include collaborating with other organizations to provide comprehensive support services aimed at helping individuals transition to stable housing.
