Start the afternoon with a shopping spree at Apache Mall. Transportation to Trader Joe’s will be provided for those who would like to shop there. After shopping, visit the Mayowood estate. “Mayowood is a rural estate, approximately 20 minutes by car from downtown Rochester. Dr. Charles H. (Charlie) Mayo and his wife, Edith, built Mayowood in 1911, extending the estate to more than 3,000 acres that included a man-made lake, greenhouses, and several working farms. Their son, Dr. Charles W. (Chuck) Mayo and his wife, Alice, made many improvements to the home until their deaths in the late 1960s. Mayowood is filled with elegant furnishings from both generations’ extensive travels.” Tour the house afterhours, with everything but the Christmas lights turned off! Experience the glitz, glamour, and magic of the Christmas lights during this unique experience. If you choose to eat on this trip, you will have opportunities at the mall at one of the many restaurants.
Return to La Crosse at approximately 8:15pm.
