211: A Go-To for Family Caregiver Resources and Support
Thursday, May 16, 2024 | 5:00pm-6:00pm | South Side Neighborhood Center
AARP estimates that in 2023 there were more than 580,000 family caregivers providing over 540 million hours of unpaid family care in Wisconsin. Caregiving can involve helping a sibling with disabilities keep their home clean, assisting an adult child with bathing or dressing activities, taking a parent to doctor appointments, providing emotional support to an aunt who is living in a nursing home, driving a neighbor to the grocery store, and many other tasks. AARP also reports that ¾ of all family caregivers in Wisconsin are working at a regular job in addition to caregiving. Finding ways to manage it all can be challenging. 211 is a go-to resource for family caregivers to discover community information and resources as well as a listening ear when needed. Learn about 211's Caregiver Outreach Program, provided in partnership with United Way of Wisconsin and AARP. Presented by Carla Lundeen, MSN, RN, CMQ/OE, Director, Great Rivers 211
