As 2020 comes to a close, the La Crosse Police Department is proud to continue our commitment to transparency by releasing a “Professional Standards Report” and the launch of our “Compliment and Complaint” webpage.
In the La Crosse Police Department 5-year strategic plan, transparency to the public was identified as one of our strategic goals. With the supplementation to our “Transparency in Policing” webpage of the new “Professional Standards Report”, we are significantly closer to meeting that goal. “By providing the public information in a variety of areas that include our awards and recognition, complaint and internal investigation process, and our Code of Conduct, we are not just talking about transparency, but following through in areas that our community has a desire to learn more about,” said Chief Kudron.
The report provides samples of the various compliments the department has received in 2019 and general information on the disposition of complaints received as well. Additionally, the release of this report coincides with the launching of the “Compliment and Complaint” page on our website. The public will now have an online format to provide feedback which will be received directly by the department’s administrative staff.
“As the Chief of Police, I want to ensure our community has the ability to provide the agency feedback as easily as possible. I know our community has high expectations for both the officers working the streets and command staff managing the department. The “Compliment and Complaint” webpage provides the public the direct conduit to reach out to us,” said Chief Kudron. “Through open and honest communications, the La Crosse Police will continue to build upon the trust we have developed with our community.”
