Home MenuNeighborhood Quiet Zones
Neighborhood Quiet Zones shall be defined as a residential area wherein not less than fifty-one percent (51%) of the residents eighteen (18) years of age and over or property owners in a non-business zoned area unless the owners of such businesses included within such quiet zone agree to the same and have successfully petitioned the Common Council to request such status. If a portion of the area requested for a neighborhood quiet zone is zoned other than residential, such portion would qualify if such area is being used for residential purposes and the owner of such property consents to such quiet zone.
The area shall not be less than one block in length on both sides of the street, unless otherwise approved by the Council in areas of irregular configuration. Smaller residential areas less than one block in length on both sides may be included within an existing contiguous quiet zone. A separate petition shall be filed for each block, or portion thereof.
