Projects or events utilizing City streets, intersections, or alleys require temporary traffic control for the safety of all users. The Traffic Engineer approves temporary traffic control plans. Temporary traffic control plans, signs, and barricades must conform to the standards of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

A review of a submitted plan, or the preparation of a plan, are separate services for which separate fees are charged. For these services, an application must be submitted to the Engineering Department. The Applicant may be a project designer, a contractor, or an event organizer. Other permits, for which the Applicant is responsible, may be required for the actual use of the public right-of-way. Such additional permits are issued by the Engineering Department.
