Friedberg, Germany in Bavaria
Our Sister City, Friedberg, population 30,000, is located in the southern part of Germany, near Augsburg founded by the Romans, only an hour from Munich, about two hours from the Alps.Friedberg, Germany was founded in 1264, built on the old salt route coming
from Munich. It had market rights and a court of justice. In the Middle Ages, Friedberg was well known for its watchmakers and pottery. These can be seen in at the museum in their castle. Parts of the medieval wall still surround the town.
Every three years they celebrate their Renaissance heritage with a ten-day "Altstadtfest" (Old City Festival) recreating their "Golden Age."
