No person shall operate any roller rink, theater, vaudeville moving picture or other entertainment without having first obtained a license therefore. This section shall not apply to lectures, concerts, or other entertainments or amusements given by any religious, educational, charitable, or benevolent association. See Ch. 10, Art. VII of the Municipal Code of Ordinances for more information.

License Period

The license year shall be from July 1 to June 30 of the following year and may be renewed for additional one year periods.

License Fee

Due at the time of application (cash, check payable to City Treasurer or credit with convenience fee).

  • $85.00, house capacity 500 or less
  • $135.00, house capacity 500 to 1,000
  • $185.00, house capacity over 1,000

How to Apply

Applications shall be made in writing on the form prescribed by law and filed with the City Clerk's Office who may issue the same after appropriate review by the La Crosse County Health Department, Police Department and Fire Prevention and Building Safety, and approval by the Common Council. All applications must be filed with the City Clerk not less than fifteen (15) days prior to the granting of this license.
