No person shall engage in the business of cleaning septic tanks, seepage pits or grease traps nor engage in the collecting of sewage or other liquid waste materials without a Waste Hauler license. A waste hauler must be licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources before applying for a license with the City of La Crosse.
Note: Waste haulers that only transport and dispose such waste materials at the City's wastewater treatment facility are not required to be licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, but are required to be licensed by the City of LaCrosse.

License Period
A Waste Hauler license shall expire June 30th of each year.
License Fee
$200.00 is due at the time of application (cash, check payable to City Treasurer or credit with convenience fee).
Applicant must also execute a $5,000.00 bond to the City conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of the waste hauler and the observance of the ordinances and resolutions of the City and such state laws and administrative regulations as are applicable.
How to Apply
Applications shall be made in writing on the form prescribed by law and filed with the City Clerk's office who shall issue said license upon compliance of all the terms and conditions required. A copy of the current license issued by the Wisconsin DNR must accompany said application, if required.
Additional Fees
Charges for disposal of non-City, hauled wastes shall correspond to the latest schedule of charges as approved by the Common Council, plus an additional 25% surcharge.
